Project Showcases question

I am not sure what the etiquette is, as far as discussion in the Project Showcase threads. Are we expected to just view and not comment? Offer only compliments? Withhold criticism? What if we see a potential hazard or want to offer a suggestion?

Project Showcases question

FWIW, my observation has been that most people welcome compliments, opinions, suggestions and questions. Those are the threads that seem to be the most interesting and educational.

I've seen a few where the OP can't handle constructive criticism and hardly answers questions. It seems that those threads aren't usually very good anyway, so no major loss.

Any sensible person would be grateful to someone who points out something they see that's potentially dangerous. Everyone makes mistakes or overlooks things from time to time. Some more than others (me).

If you think the OP won't handle advice very well, you can send them a PM too.

Vinny...speaking for myself I welcome any and all comments.

Shortly after I started here, an experienced contractor from Washington State posed some very pointed questions to me.

This was a sign that he was interested in me doing things properly, which I thought was excellent.

I was able to answer him quite completely and hopefully I demonstrated that my years in the business had at least taught me something.

I should add that many times it is I who fails to demonstrate or show something correctly, and I should rightfully be brought to task for that. So, please, if you see something I mess up on - bring it to my attention. I would hate to knowingly - or unknowingly - pass along inaccurate information to anyone.

And above all, I am genuinely and sincerely grateful for every single post made by other members of this site on my thread.

I hope that I have been able to educate and entertain at the same time.
