A person says to you that he or she couldn't care less about your opinion, or you either.

What do you say, if anything?

A: Are you bragging or complaining?

B: And so you shouldn't, because I am a cretin.

C: You should because I am so much worthier than you that anything I write should be treated as a Sacred Text.

D: Other?

Uh OH...

DIY group therapy is now in session..

Of course your answer depends entirely on what this person means to you.

If you loathe this person, feel free to answer as rudely as you like. You must bear in mind however, a dignified remark, at all times, will keep you feeling good about yourself. So sometimes a cool calculated " thank-you for your time" or an "I see" is just as cutting as it needs to be.

BUT

If you really like this person and they have just wounded you with their anger then you must first do some honest introspection and see where you went wrong. Gently approach them with your sincerest feelings. No weak apologies.. Tell them you are very remorseful for what you have done.

OR

Tell them to shove it and go have a beer

Me? I always say...

When the Heeber, Squat and Frobbing,
Bends it's Peeber on the Knobbing,
Let no Wenzel make a Maizy,
For the Morning Dew is Lazy!

Works every time.

It USED to be my sig line, and I offered a No Prize for anyone who could identify it's source.

.... No prize was ever given, nobody ever found the source. But it's been verified as valid to a most trusted member who can tell you it exists.

No need to question my source Mouse.

But first a clue

It is neither a limerick, a sonnet, a quantrain, a couplet nor Iambic pentameter

just a small one then we can get on with the business of dispensing emotional advice

I'd call the answers verbal judo, after the book by the same name.

It's part of an old negro spiritual, I believe. At least it seems familiar.
