Pets For Christmas
My daughter wants a puppy for Christmas. She already has two dogs but wants a third because she says "Look at 'em dad, they get bored with each other".
Would you give in and give your daughter a new puppy? |
NO WAY.
Unless you have the space for a puppy and truly want another in the house, don't give in just because she is giving you puppy dog eyes. Dads are easily manipulated by their daughters. What does the Mrs say |

Ya just like that..
How could anybody say no to that |

As someone with three dogs (and no kids) I would strongly advise against it :)
|
Give it a week, she'll think of something else she "has" to have.
Talk your neighbor into buying one for his/her kids and send your daughter over there to play once a day. |
I got my wife a puppy for mothers day, but we didn't have one already. That's a tough call.

having just gotten through the puppy stages with my dog I can honestly say that there is no way in hell i'd be having ANOTHER dog. At least not for a bit. Three dogs is a bit much no? unless you have the space.

I love 'em, but the phrase most heard in this house is "Move, dog!, MOVE, dog!" How old is she? Does she take care of them? Feed them? Is she is old enough to consider moving out in the next few years? Will she take them with her, or are they going to become yours when she moves out or goes to college? |
My wife and daughter love animals and my wife particularly loves rescuing them. At the top of our peak we had seven chickens, a rabbit, three cats, three dogs, and a horse. The dogs, cats, and horse were rescued. We're down to "just" two cats, two dogs, and a horse. We gave up the rabbit and chickens when we moved, recently had to put one dog down, and unfortunately haven't seen one of the cats in a few weeks now. We have the garage open to the cats by a cat door in the side entrance and have built a big, nice dog house for the dogs for shelter out of the rain. Insulated pretty well for the few "cold" nights we get here in FL. Even with the reduction in animals, we still spend more on them per month than my truck payment!
That said, I would not give my daughter another pet. She's already expressed interest in another dog and a couple months ago made a long presentation on how she wants another kitten. |

That would be a long week or two and constant reminders for the whole year! |
Just buy another new pet - an ALLIGATOR to sort out things the natural way.
