Our new toy!!!

The cons were mostly an unexpectedly high wear for the mileage. Also, the bank was making it a PITA since it was a private person selling it out of state.

The folks that own the dealership I work at (think Jack Link's Beef Jerky) have a fleet of cars. Ford GT's (not the mustang, the actual mid engine race car type) Ferrari's, a few Lambos, Rolls Royces, Ford Coupes, Model Ts, Jags, etc. They loan them out to certain employees/friends to drive. Imagine a $230,000 car hitting a deer in NW WI at 110 mph. It's not pretty. Though the deer fared much worse. I believe the rear hatch over the engine cost $30,000 alone. Ouch. I've put 3 clutches into the same GT. And 6 pairs of rear tires at $1200 a pop. It has 9000 miles on it. Ah, the lives of the wealthy...

Final Notice -

The last time I checked a Veyron, it was $2,430,000 including taxes, but going up as the value of the dollar goes down. It is without a doubt the fastest coupe in the world and can easily run the wheels off any others. The last 50 mph takes a lot of dollars, power, fuel and technology. It is only 1000 hp.

The availability is limited because the car was not developed for sales, but as a research and development project with limited exposure. Because of the technology (11 computers), radiators (7) and suspension sensors, it is made in a laboratory type atmosphere (everyone in white coats and not a spot of oil or grease anywhere). Depending on the air conditions, car speed and road conditions, the car is dropped down to as little as 1 1/2" ground clearance and the rear spoiler is increased in height and angle. - Typical German technology and attention to details. VW/Porsche apparently is really not interested in much of the U.S. market when it comes to the small V8's and that is why they are not available. It is a learning experience and not a production car. It seems that it can be on wheels they will try to develop and race it. There, a truck race may be a group of semi tractors (Macks, Volvos, Manns, Kenworths, etc.) and the lawn mowers even get more exotic.

Not practical, but fun to study and look at.

Leah, you and your husband have good taste! What you almost bought is exactly what I want. They outperform just about everything and everything in it's price range. Look for another one.
