OT: Electrical Hall of Shame

After looking at this for more than a week, I had to take a photo of the cities stop light / street light wiring job:
Attachment 24713 Notice the lower wires enclosed in a "junction box" made out of a garbage bag. Even if those are not full 120v connections, I can't believe they are just leaving them out in the open. Jamie |
that is a temp set up, right?
Please tell me it is temporary. |

LOL that is pretty funny. They could have at least covered all of it with the garbage bag. I can understand if it's temporary they don't want to spend time/money only to rip it all out, but wow, at least make it safe if it rains LOL.

I've seen the garbage bag fix...
I always thought it was just low voltage/phone wires |

We used a bucket on a recent job where a pole was knocked down ....
|
nice crash there kbsparky. Did somebody hit it or did it just fall over from rusting away at the base?
but your forgot the official conductor containment retention device: http://www.villacero.com/lwp/wcm/con...dda_bobina.jpg |
ehhh think of it all as population control.
and the bucket method is ok... cuz its a gander mountain bucket... hunt fish camp. |

A tractor-trailer attempted to do a U-turn in the Gander Mountain parking lot. He cut his turn too tight, and took out that light pole when the rear wheels of his trailer rode up on the side of it --- it was tilted at 45 degree angle when it fell over!
He then tried to high-tail it outta there, but the store manager saw it, as well as the drive-thru teller at the BBT bank which had a clear view of the events. Store manager chased him down and caught up to him at the traffic light, which caught him with a red light!! Gave him the riot act, that's for sure! There were 2 different 480 Volt circuits passing thru that light pole, which had to remain connected for the rest of the parking lot to be lit at night. They provided the bucket to protect those wires/connections while we were waiting for the new pole and fixtures to arrive. I drilled the pole base out, and installed some anchors and ground wire clamps to keep the bucket in place for the interim. With the wires inside, nobody messed with `em. :whistling2: |
