One post wonders..how many are there ?

I see so many of these
They make one post...a minute later they are off the site & never seen again
I always wonder if they:
a) Just post on as many sites as possible until they get an immediate answer
b) Forgot to bookmark the site
c) Fix the issue
d) Other

Irritating when they ask a question and never come back.

I believe by default settings, they will be notified via email when someone replies.

Another forum I visit locks the thread if the OP does not return within 24 hours, to prevent run-aways, with no replies.

I think you do a dis service to those of us who are not as astute in the DIY area as some. I don't post on here very often even though I check the site weekly if not daily. I am always trying to learn new things about my home and its up keep and as such many of the posts on here and the answers to the posts are extremely helpful to me, even if I dont have an immediate need to fix something, at least I learn how and hwy things work. Anyway when I signed up I did not know there was a minimum posts per period of time ...

One post wonders..how many are there ?

Personally, I think it' A, that they are looking for an imediate answer.

I see this all the time in the contracting world. I like to refer to it as the "Walmart mentality." Everyone wants everything right now, at the cheapest price, all in one place for convenience, & preferably it's a drive-thru.

I think alot of people (in general) either never realize or take for granted how valuable, & how much experience & backgraound, some of the replies actually are.

I know I hold back some hard earned knowledge at times when someone seems like they may not respect what they are recieving. But, there's a few on here that I have alot of respect for that are truly generous with their knowledge.

Wmrawls -its not about new people, or only having a few posts
Its about someone who posts, then within 1-10 minutes is off the site - BEFORE anyone responds - and never comes back to the site...EVER

This person posted & was off the site 8 minutes later:
How do I build a header?

I've seen questions posted where the person is gone within 2 minutes & never comes back
I have no problem with someone getting the info they need & not responding
But it would be nice to know the issue is resolved, its just nice to know if a suggestion/solution worked so that someone else looking for the same solution can do the same thing

If I were a new person & had a question I would post the question & then leave the Internet window open & check it for replies/info

I think it's "forgot to bookmark the site" but therein should be a subcategory called "didn't realize that a message board does not work like google"
