Old b&w sitcoms.

This is not DIY related but I wonder if any older members remember any of the old black-and-white sitcoms from the 50s and 60s.
I'm Uk based but we used to get a lot of American imports on our commercial channels, presumably some time after they were made.
As a kid, I remember; Mr Ed (the guy who had a talking horse); Petticoat Junction (about a railway that seemed to run from Nowhere-in-Particular to Nowhere-at-All); The Addams Family (remember Lurch, the butler?) and of course
The Beverley Hillbillies (with Buddy Ebsen as Jed Clampett)

If we stayed up late, we somtimes watched Bilko (with Phil Silvers; being aged 10 or 11 the jokes were over my head!). Last but not least was I Love Lucy, with Lucile Ball and Desi Arnez, and their neighbours Fred and Ethel Mertz.
Happy Days!

I remember them all other than Bilko. Ed, Jed and Lucy are on one of my channels every day.

B&W Andy Griffin is probably my favorite, never really cared for later colored episodes though.

I remember them . Good stuff. I was born in 52 so I saw them when they were new. I still watch some of them from time to time, since I'm stuck at home with a broken leg.

No swearing, no one sleeped in the same bed, not even a belly button shown, no one was even allowed to say pregnat and yet we loved them and made us laugh or cry.
Abbot and Costello, Amos and Andy, Gun Smoke, Bonanza to name a few more.

Leave it to Beaver, Lassie and The Littlest Hobo

Watching The Hillbillies right now!

Topper.
(The old man that was a ghost.)
Lone Ranger
Hop along Cassidy

Mort 10-20-2012 07:05 PM

A lot of my favorites are already mentioned, although I'd add Burns and Allen and Jack Benny.

A few names I don't recall - we probably didn't get them here. But D.Mouse mentioned Lost in Space (who wouldn't want to be lost in space with that blonde? If I recall correctly, one of the characters was a scheming and creepy Englishman, always out to cause trouble; [damn stereotypes!]).
As Joe.C said, all good clean fun.
Bonanza was a favourite here, and of course the Fugitive (David Jensen).
Thanks guys.

We have a couple of TV channels that still carry most of those shows. Not Mr ED but all the others along with Star Trek, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Big Valley, Gunsmoke, Bonanza, Rifleman, Perry Mason, Monkeys, Batman, Giget, Flying Nun, Adam 12, Emergency, Dragnet, Father Know best, Leave it to Beaver, Hazel, Brady Bunch, Hogan's Heros.

I believe Barbara Eden ( I Dream of Jeanie) was the first to do that in the early 70's.

Wow!
Talking about dragging up old memories!?!

"Gunsmoke"
Who was the minor, actor who they wanted to portray Matt Dillon? -
John Wayne.
He didn't want to do it.
A friend of his Peter Graves (Mission Impossible)
told Wayne - I know somebody who can do it - James Arness -
(who happened to be P. Graves' brother.)

"Bounty Hunter"
Starring a minor, actor - Steve McQueen

"Combat"

"Rt. 66"

rossfingal
+1 :)

I forgot "Topper" - Leo Carroll - seen him in movies too!

You guys are giving away your age......

Ok....so I never missed an episode of Lost in Space, Batman, F-Troop, Get Smart, The Munsters.....and Deputy Dawg......and had to suffer while my parents watched that show with the German guy who had a band and all these people singing songs that I have mentally blocked from my mind.....
