No more political or gun threads-----

I am asking you all to please stop the emotionally charged threads that have been posted here over the last few months---

As a moderator ,I get stuck in the middle, trying to keep peace while fielding dozens of PMs from members with hurt feelings, disgust and anger---

I've had it---I come here for a break from my daily grind--a time to help others and chat with friendly members----

That has changed----I dread seeing a PM now---as likely as not some member fuming over an insult or slight here in "off Topic'--

I'm tired of it----my personal life has enough drama without more of it here in my 'escape'------------Mike----------

Right on, brother. There are plenty of sites that are no holds barred. This one is more of a "beer on the patio" site.

In addition to not having these threads, how about people leave the mods alone unless something EGREGIOUS has happened? Just because your fee-fees were a little hurt you don't have to go crying to a mod, you're presumably adults.

oh'mike 04-19-2013 10:18 AM

Now you have me chuckling----

ddawg16 04-19-2013 10:38 AM

So....that means no pics of me with my massive collection of illegal guns confiscated from innocent citizens with their over stuffed magazines with my rainbow partner next to me and the Confederate flag in the background?

(disclaimer....non of the above is true.....except for maybe one)

oh'mike 04-19-2013 10:56 AM

This is my wish--I don't speak for any of the other moderators----just a wish and a hope---Mike---

rossfingal 04-19-2013 11:12 AM

We all have wishes "oh'mike" -
Hopefully, yours will be granted! :)

Bob....your right....in fact, if people would just ignore the offending statement, they usually give up. Respond? And you fuel the fire....and it spirals out of control.

Trolls thrive on people responding.....your giving them the attention they want.

By ignoring them, your hurting them more than if you lock their post.

I should know....I learned the hard way......

bobelectric 04-19-2013 11:57 AM

Can't stand the heat as a mod,eh?

Spot on ddawg. I've learned that when I feel the urge to respond, it's much easier to simply leave the thread and go to one of the many other boards here and learn something new. We're all DIY'ers to some extent and there's a wealth of knowledge here. I would rather learn something about roofing or flooring than argue the latest political theme with someone who won't change their minds anyways.

tinner666 04-19-2013 12:44 PM

Yep! I just try not to respond to many responses. I have my own life to live and no axes to grind here.:)

Well said Mike.
There's plenty of other places for that type of banter.

I doubt that will happen. That would abolish the word "clique".

Lovey Dovey? I guess I'm looking on the wrong forums.....

So....hmmmmm....are jokes allowed?

Like this one?

The chicken and the egg are laying in bed. The chicken is smoking a cigarette with a satisfied smile on its face while the egg is frowning and looking slightly annoyed. The egg mutters "Well I guess that answers that riddle".
