New Dryer: Gas or Electric?

I am buying a new front-load washer and dryer - trying to save a few pennies on my utility bill. What is the most efficient dryer by todays standards? Which one is more reliable? Recommendations?

New Dryer: Gas or Electric?

I have always liked the gas dryers. However in some areas with lower electric costs it may be cheaper to run a electric. Maintenance and repair both can provide many years without major repair. Another issue to weigh in your decision is do you have both electric and gas hook ups for a drier in place already or will that possibly add to the expense of your purchase?

Right electric is safer, do you live in an earthquake prone area?
