My Rant For The Day--Junk Mail
I get so tired of shredding junk mail. I get at least one a day and sometimes more! I do not want my identy thrown in the garbage.
I checked on the "Opt-Out to be removed from the junk list, and was told I had to submit my SS number!!! WHAT!!---WHY!!--they give a half-a** explaination before I hung up.

Yeah pisses me off too, especially those ready to use preactivated credit cards. That can be really dangerous if it was to get lost in the mail. Should be illega. I don't get where they get this info in first place.

A fireplace comes in quite handy in situations like this.

Do those exist?! I've heard of them sending out the credit card (as in the actual, physical thing), but sending one ready to use???

It's been a while since I've seen one, but yeah I have seen them. The card usually has your name on it already and everything. I can't recall if you need to call to activate it or not, but regardless, anyone could do that. What I don't get is where they get all your info to begin with. The only people that should have that info is the government and companies you deal with such as your bank.

Open the envelope, take out the return envelope that has the postage paid label on it. Shred the info but make sure there is something with your name and address on it, (so they can read it), then mail back the shredded paper in the postage paid envelope. That way you dont have to pay to get rid of it and it keeps the post office employees employed.

Uh oh. I have just been throwing it in the trash.
Do not give out your social security number. Sometimes I put some of the contents of one piece of junk mail in the postpaid envelope from another piece of junk mail and send it. (Not including anything that has my name on it.)

My Rant For The Day--Junk Mail
I was given this suggestion some time ago:
Whenever you MUST give your address for something (magazine/shipped purchase/etc) use the initials of the source as your middle initial or add them to your first name. That way you know who sold your info. And you can make your consumer decisions accordingly. For example: my US Weekly subscription* comes to Leah UW Wade. *BTW to the husbands/boyfriends out there - my sweet husband got me the US Weekly subscription for christmas many years ago. Yes it's silly. Yes, it's girlie. But it is a great/inexpensive gift that makes me appreciate him EVERY week.

![]() It has been so long ago, I don't remember who the sub. was to. Strange thing is , I still occasionally receive junk mail with these two bogus initials even with an address change. ![]() Someone has to be making a fortune selling identity.

It's a hassle but I have ---PACKED their SASA with all sorts of junk paper, along with my identity, and mailed it back. Literally had to tape the flap down. I am sure they had to pay additional postage
It stopped them but I wish there was a better way

I ordered a magazine in the name of my cat years ago. Still get credit card offers for the, now deceased, cat.
