My garage got robbed
Im working out of town and my moms boyfriend went over to my house today and saw a pile of my tools in my back yard. Somebody had broken in. So he put them all back in the garage and locked it back up. He was planning to go back after work today and put some plywood up on the door and the theives had already came back in broad daylight and robbed my garage blind. Lots of expensive tools. im so mad right now. I was already planning on driving back tonight and they did it before i could make it back

I know you do not care about semantics at this point but just for info:
People get robbed.
Garages if attached to the home get burglarized
Garages that are detached get criminally trespassed in.

Sorry to hear about that. Hopefully your homeowners insurance will cover it.

My garage got robbed
i talked to insurance today. They said it is covered no problem and i don't need receipts, just description and value. Will make my insurance go way up. So i might have to switch companies after the claim. My deductible is 2500 though which sucks. But i think my claim will be 6 grand or so

That's awesome jimmy. I wonder if the police were able to get any of the robbers' finger prints.

Does not matter now but why did he not call the police as soon as he saw the tools laying there? They would know they would be coming back to pick them up and could have cought them as they showed up.
Your lucky they took them to a local pawn shop.
I see ads all the time on Craigs list that just do not look right or the item is just priced way to low. I call the local police and they could care less.
One guy was selling a Bob Cat that was 2 years old for $1000.00, even said in his ad the contractor had left it in his yard and had no paper work on it.
I called the local police and told them I would even come with them to pretend I was going to buy it, and they refused.

One of my customer's had the tailgate of his new pickup truck stolen off the truck as it sat in their driveway one night.
They reported it to the police and his wife told me that they would be watching Craig's List to see if it shows up there.
I never did find out if they got it back.

I called the cops and they said they needed somone there. Called my moms bf back and he said he would meet them in a couple hours. I was kind of annoyed by everyone's lack of care until after they came back. The dead bolt wasn't locked, so they used a pry bar. My moms bf said he would dead bolt it and put plywood over the door. Couple hours later he calls to tell me I was robbed again and he never did meet with the cops
.
I put a trail cam in my back used today and it caught the backside of two people. Could have just been teenagers though cuz they didn't look at the door. Looked like they just ran theough the back yard. Which is wierd. The back yard is off the beaten path

How will you get your tools back from the pawn shop?
Do the police just confiscate them, or does the pawn shop have to be reimbursed for the money they paid for them?

Here, the pawnshop has to be reimbursed.

Why?
If they are stolen property they don't belong to them, the pawn shop should be out the money. If they are reimbursed what reason would they ahve to care if what they are buying is stolen?

So, what? You think I should have to wait for them to show up on the show room floor and buy them back? The tools are in police custody now. The police just go confiscate them. Pawn shops lose money when they buy stolen property
I described what was stolen to a tee and the pawn shop had them in the back room. It's not like I went in there and saw some tools I liked and claimed they were mine
Edit: I thought you were being hypothetical. I just noticed that you were actually talking about where you live. That's pretty effed up. Hopefully your not the one doing the reimbursing. Here, pawn shops have to report everything they buy to the police and hold on to it for a week before they can sell it
