Morals?what morals.

I'm sure the good in man out does the bad, and the words inner city gangs has a certain meaning of survival, but the conversation I had with a family member who is a power line worker and yes he is union,and he says the outside help coming into the hurricane Sandy area is a nightmare. The local union doesn't want outsiders there, tires are being slashed . And real people suffer, and insurance rates go up. I hope this is all false.

I don't think you have all the facts---explain a bit more----my guess as to the 'bad guys?'

Most likely suspects would be the storm chaser crews trying to get more work for themselves by crippling the competition---

That's funny. I was having a conversation about the unions and and trying to get anything done cost effectively up in that area.

Many moons ago I had to do some set up at industrual shows in NY MA And CT.
We had to pay for union labor to just run a fork lift to take just one box off of a truck, riggers to walk along side of the box while it was being moved and to open the box.
Once opened they wanted us to pay for an electrition, even if he just sat there and watched. All we had was one cord to run less then 100 watts of power.
The exact same display set up in NH or VA cost us about $2000.00 less to set up.
All those extra fees went right back to the consumer when the product was sold.
A union trash man in NY with over time can make as much as $90,000. a year!
That's just nuts!
In VA Lucent Tec. ended up going out of business and thousands lost there jobs because of a strike. They had janitors making over $18.00 an hour back in the early 90's.
Now were losing the baker that makes Twinkys because of a union. 18,000 people out of work. How is that helping anyone.

Doubtful it's false. My girlfriend used to work for hte state of CT. Back during Irene a few years ago, a bunch of outside power companies came to help fix the damage. Since they weren't union, they weren't allowed to work, and so they all had to just set up camp and sit around, doing nothing, while people sat without power for days on end.

Some friends of mine work for Alabama power and they were sent up to help. The union bosses turned them away and told them to go home and they didn't need any help.

That's the union way right?

It's not the first time Alabama and Georgia power have sent help only to be turned away by the unions.

All truth...non-union means not welcome. Couple that with irate residents who resorted to assaulting power workers stopping for coffee because "they're being lazy and not fixing stuff" and you have a real **** show...
