Love the new iphone app

I'm sure everybody knows about the diy iPhone app by now but I just found it and very good job by the creator(s).

amyevans 03-08-2011 04:01 PM

I don't know about it because I don't have an iphone.

Am I missing out?

Yeah the creators of it did a bang up job! It's fun being out and about and being able to browse the forum. It also makes it really nice for taking a picture with my iPhone and posting it.

??? I don't know what it is either.

If you have an iPhone you can download an application for DIYChatroom that allows you to browse the forum, reply to threads, search the forum, post pictures, etc without having to use a browser, which makes things a lot faster and simpler on a phone. For instance the two posts of mine were posted from my iPhone away from any computer.

How cool!

Thanks for explaining it.

I used to have an eyephone but had to give it up. I couldn't dial when I wore my glasses so it was pretty much useless.

I'm sure if there isn't an Android one by now there will be soon.

DangerMouse 03-14-2011 11:00 AM

There is.

Maybe if anyone uses it, they could do a better review than "Poor app but only cuz i havent given it a chance yet i suppose. ... by Jason– December 19, 2010"

How can you call something poorly made if you haven't tried it?

I have and always have had Nokias. As far as I know I can't get any applications for my phone, but perhaps I'm being really thick! I'm not even sure what an Android is... a type of phone presumably?!

Anyway, I was thinking it was some sort of tool to help with the DIY itself, like some sort of ultra clever guide. I'm not particularly bothered about browsing the internet on the go - I spend enough time on it when I'm at home!

Android = phone operating system. It is currently the 2nd most popular smartphone OS in Europe. It surpassed Nokia and Blackberry last Spring. It is second only to Apple, which commands a whopping 45% market share.

I have the app for my android device, but it's just as easy to actually use the website, I guess. 4G makes it fast enough to load the full site and not need an app.

There's a new texting app that just came out. It actually lets you talk and it automatically talks to the other person. This is great for when you need to align a dish or something.

Ok, I was making that up, but it turns out someone actually DID make an app like that:

Is it just me or are people forgetting what a phone actually is? LOL

Mine kept crashing, but an OS upgrade fixed it.

Glad to know there's an Android app! My next phone will be an Android. I'm ditching the iPhone as soon as my AT&T contract is up. There's no point in having AT&T if you live in New England.

So does Android do the same sort of things IPhones do?

android is simply an operating system for your phone just like windows 7 is an operating system for your computer. an Iphone uses iOS as its operating system.

While iOS is exclusively used on Apple Iphones, Android is used on may different manufacturers phones. Why Nokia chooses to stay with their operating system (they have used a few including Nokia series 60, Symbian OS, and Symbian) is anybody's guess with Nokia being the only people that really have the answer.

both systems have apps (applications= programs) available for many uses available for them. Just as with some programs for computers where there are versions available for both PC and Apple computers, there are some apps that have versions for both Android and iOS. Just the same, there are apps that are developed for just Android or iOS so, while phones using either os have apps available, there may or may not be a version of any particular app available for both.
