Long Distance Providers

I guess I am really old school, but I have a land line at my house. My local telco is charging something like 15c a minute for in and out of state LD. Does anyone use other LD providers you could recommend? My state PUC forwarded me a ten page list, but most of them have terrible non-working websites or raise too many red flags for me to investigate!

If you have a FAST internet connection try a Magic Jack.

It isn’t perfect and it rarely gives me any problems but for $20 a year it works just fine for me.

I use vontage, only because it allows me to have a local number for my MIL to call so she could cancel her long distance.
When she is gone, I may switch to nothing but cell phones.

My LD is part of a internet/phone/cable package. $115/month total. The phone is the cheapest part.

I use my cell phone for my LD calls.
