A Little nervous.....
Sunday I'm starting a new project. I built a deck over the course of the end of last summer and this summer and now it's time to cut a hole in my wall!
I guess you could consider the deck itself a bigger project (16'x18') but it went in stages and if the project got stalled it just sat there waiting for me.
Now I'm actually cutting a hole in my house!!!
I already gutted the inside of the wall, re-routed the a/c duct in the wall and discovered that there's already a header in place from the window that's there now. Really the only thing that I have left is to cut the siding and start tearing the thing out.
Not sure what it is, just a little jittery.
OK, done babbling...
If you have vinyl as I remember you don’t want to cut it but instead remove all of the siding to expose the sheathing, modify the framing do the install and then reinstall the siding.
The way I see it I can cut the current opening so it continues down to the deck and then trim it out when done.
Or... extend the cut down on one side, take the siding off and try to find some that match to fill in the other side.
Actually Ron .. you have got me thinking now .... I will post a topic in the siding section. I just got an idea.
:excl:There is another post about this from the same guy with diagrams...:excl:
This post inspired the other one----Opening that wall and adding the door will be fun---
Please do pay attention to Rons technique to properly flash the work.
You will enjoy this job---Mike---
