Jack Frost was dancing on my lawn last night
Our ski hills will be open on 12/1, but maybe with some limited runs. Once we get cold enough, they make snow every night to build a base for real snow because early skiing is profitable($$$).
Watch out for the back yard rink. I had a neighbor that put one in his back yard and it got too popular. It ended up with lights, boards and nets. At night(after 10:00), the kids showed up to go through the traditional plowing, scraping, shoveling and flooding to music. The parents also showed up with burgers and sausage for the grill. - They kind of liked the traditional "thumb your nose at the winter" instead of going to the 24 hour arenas. At least the arenas where many tournaments are scheduled, they are always open and operate on schedule.
with the warm weather, this will be a late year for "pond hockey" on the lakes (with great, but hard ice), but the many national tournaments with hundreds teams of all ages competing. - Just enjoy winter in MN, since it is more predictable than if you are influenced by variable eastern and southern winds and open lakes.
