How would you like to be a door-to-door salesman or a Girl Scout walking up to Doc's front door? Imagine hearing a growling sound and looking up to see that? Even the little Girl Scout would be saying, "Oh !!!"

Beautiful dog Doc. How did he get up there? And how did you get him down?

This is one of those rare times when you could have a conversation with Bear...

Doc: Where were you?
Bear: Roof!
Doc: What was it like up there?
Bear: Rough!

Thanks! He's slowly grown on me. At first I thought he was the ugliest thing I'd ever laid eyes on. The fact that each time I used to bend down to pet him, each time I'd hug him he'd begin growling didn't help. You pet him, he growls. You stop petting him, he jumps up on you to say "Hey, pet me damn it!" and growls.

He's harmless, doesn't flash his teeth or anything and he absolutely loves to be petted, just growls. I think he may have been slightly abused very early on, and neglected. Regardless of if his tail is wagging and you're petting him, he's always highly attentive and stiff, defensive.

I had two stacks of bricks, one shorter than the other at maybe 3' and the other at 5' so in staircase fashion, right in front of a small shed on the side of the house. He climbed the bricks, got on top of the shed and then it's only maybe a one foot hop to the roof. I've since re-arranged the bricks.

I would like to put him up there on Halloween, it'd be a real hoot. I need to teach him how to bare his teeth!!

If you do that for Halloween, it would be neat if you could find some glow-in-the-dark doggie toothpaste so that trick-or-treaters would hear the growl, look up and see his teeth glowing.

That's hillarious. I have found my dog behind the couch and under blankets but never on the roof!

Our family had a mutt that was a chiauaua (sp?) and pecanese mix. Ugly when young with short fur and mixed traits including huge bug eyes. You would think with those genes she would have been yappy and twitchy but she barked only when something was up and was actually adorable when she grew up.

One of her shortcomings was that she was very protective of territory and fearless. Some times a dog from the hood would get into the back yard where Ginger hung out when outside and it did not matter how big the thing was, she was on it often jumping up on its back. She once scared the heck out of a huge doberman that was too inbred and dumb to figure out what was going on.

The funniest thing was watching her chase cats. They would climb trees to get away from her and be astonished as she kept right up with their ascents literally hopping from branch to branch. Unlike cats, she didn't freak out when up there either and would hop her way back down when she had "learned the feline a lesson!". I would have to get the extension ladder and go get the aggravated and terrified cats down taking special care with the ferile ones.

Great dog stories here on this and the other thread. Makes me miss mine. Lost the red one 2 years ago and her mother, on the left in April this year. She was 19 years old.

OK YOU..I'm posting here so we don't hog Bikers thread.

Here is a list of reasons why this just won't work. God knows we have tried, but sadly, it's just not meant to be.

1 My kodiak is top dog in every way possible. Even though he is a senior now, he will kick Bears scrawny butt.

2 you and I will fight more than these two. ( good vid..one of the only rap songs/artists that I can tolerate)

3 As you know Toronto is very likely the best city in the world. Our tolerant and welcoming disposition has made it an easy choice for the world pride event next summer. After seeing what fun everyone was having recently at Pride week, I have decided to play for the other team. While attending the world famous Dyke march I met my soul mate and she and I are devoted to one another.
So you see. please don't take it personally when I reject you from here on. Its just a man thing and you fall into that category. Men are just too hairy and their voices are too deep. And she has only a little of those features.
