I just passed that section when I set mine, and my wifes iOS devices up.
Once set, it can also be changed from the settings app. No need to go back and re-run the setup process.

Did I state that? Only way to go through the setup process, is to do a Factory reset.

Already stated that. No need to keep repeating it.

Try uninstalling it from your mail settings, then set it back up. Had that issue with 6.0.1. After setting gmail back up, everything worked fine.

That's basically what my techy kid told me to do.
Funny that it worked fine for at least a day

Blame it on Google.

Thats one of the reasons I'm using Apple. I feel I can trust their apps more than I can trust open source stuff I use to have on my droid- But I do miss my droid sometimes

IOS 7 update

I do not really get any email through my gmail account, so I only have my @att.net & @me.com on my iPhone. Same with Zimbra Desktop on my laptop running Windows 8.

Now the only thing I can think of in your case, is go into gmail, and make sure that POP & Imap are turned on in the Settings portion, at https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#settings/fwdandpop

Make sure that Imap access is enabled, auto-expunge is on; for the POP section, that "Enable POP for all mail (even mail that's already been downloaded)" in section 1 is checked. Also that #2, you have it set to delete "Gmail's copy".

Also have it set for Fetch in the Mail settings for the iPhone, to check say every 15 or 30 min's. Some have their phones setup for Push on everything. Problem with that, it runs your battery life down.

Here are some topics that may help you out:

https://support.google.com/mail/answer/77702 This problem dates back to 2008. See https://discussions.apple.com/thread...art=0&tstart=0

LOL- I just opened it. Got the last session crash message- clicked "no thanks" to report it and it loaded fine. We'll see how long it lasts.
All day my mail was getting pushed through on my phone notifications, It just kept crashing when I tried to open it.

Is this through Gmail app? Or native iphone mail?

If it is the gmail app, that is crashing, just use the built-in mail to pull your gmail account emails, vs. the gmail app. It is going to take a while for everyone to have the bugs out of those apps, that they did not pus updates for, prior to the iOS7 release.

I know that for the week leading up to iOS7 hitting the wild, I was getting something like 6-8 updates a day, for various apps, on mine and my wife's iPhones & her iPad 4.

I don't have any issues with my gmail app, I would say uninstall it turn phone off then back on then reinstall gmail app see if that works.
