Impossible to open packages

Today I found myself in a wet crawlspace and needed a new blade for the Sawsall---
I was proud of myself---

I had everything needed to complete the task--only one trip across the slush fill mess------

Or so I thought, until I needed something to open the pack of Sawsall blades--------

I managed to hack the plastic using the Sawsall---

Good god---how many people each year must end up with life changing injuries from opening up that type of packaging?

Merry Christmas everyone---Mike----

Jim, I actually have a small pipe wrench next to the fridge just for bottles

It's not you---I can strangle a bronze statue---but some bottle caps can't be gripped---

Ever have that plastic wrapper fight back and slice your finger?

Or that one last staple reach out and grab ya?

My friends wonder why I carry a utility knife - all the time.

(To sharpen pencils! - Duh!)

I hate pill bottles. Doesn't have to be childproof caps to be a pain.

I can bench press almost twice my body weight but for some reason I can't open ziplock bags. Something about trying to grasp that 1/4" of plastic with my finger tips.

I bought some 2 liter pepsi. The caps are really on there. I had to use a rag for extra traction.

Ugh those molded plastic boxes are the worst, and it's completely unnecessary.

For bottles and jars we have something like this at home. It's FANTASTIC.

I bought a utility knife once that was in a clam shell pack. The irony was overwhelming.

Like trying to open those plastic bags on a roll in the grocery store so you can put your bananas in. Dry skin is hopeless. Sounds gross but a bit of spit on the finger tips and voila you can get er done.

Best thing for traction on those Pepsi bottles or jars etc is a rubber band. Wrap it around the cap or lid and you get great traction.

I try to keep the utility knife and my shop scissors on my workbench, due to I have a habit of just tossing stuff there, or in the bucket with my tools. But when I go to look for something, I find out the wife or son used it, and placed it somewhere that I can never find them.

My order of keeping stuff on my workbench, is just try to keep stuff in the same spot, when I toss it on there, so I know next time, it is at that spot, but the wife & kid keeps moving stuff on me.

This is an old one to unscrew stubborn caps on bottles and tubes (doesn't work with child-proof caps, though).

(Happy Christmas from UK everybody)

Probably also had a anti-theft tag on the packaging. Most likely if it had blades in it, they did that as a safety precaution, to keep people from injuring themselves.
