I went fishing.....

I went fishing this morning but after a short time I ran out of worms.
Then I saw a cottonmouth with a frog in his mouth. Frogs are good bass bait.

Knowing the snake couldn't bite me with the frog in his mouth I grabbed him right behind the head, took the frog, and put it in my bait bucket.

Now the dilemma was how to release the snake without getting bit.
So, I grabbed my bottle of Jack Daniels and poured a little whiskey in its mouth.

His eyes rolled back, he went limp. I released him into the lake without incident and carried on fishing using the frog.

A little later, I felt a nudge on my foot.
There was that same snake with two frogs in his mouth.

Life is good in the south...

Good story, except, I don't believe they live in California

Speaking of, we just came back east from a trip up highway 101 and 1 from L.A. to San Francisco, awesomely beautiful. Standing on the first tee @ Pebble Beach was a highlight for me( and the redwoods, seals, otters, sea elephants)

Lived there a long time until the Bay Area culture changed. The coast is quite beautiful and you were there at a good time of year. It gets scary later with fog so thick you cannot see the front of your car at times. People forget the water temperature is significantly colder in the middle of the summer than in the winter. Gulf stream patterns and all that jazz. Many the poor soul visits the Northern California coast in July wishing they had packed a sweater or sweatshirt.

When going to school I delivered landscape supplies and lumber all over the SF Bay, Monterey Bay and Wine Country regions. And sometimes had reason to commute by air into the Seattle, Idaho and Vancouver, BC area. Life was quite majestic. It is a beautiful part of the country. Seafood is different too than on the East Coast. I sailed a lot too out there and the sea lions (no doubt looking for food scraps) and whales used to play with us at times.

I actually never got to spend as much time as I would have liked acctually on the East Coast. I found what I experienced quite special too though. I never saw dolphins running in a large group or a horshoe crab until Cape May. Friends had a lovely place in Guilford, CT that overlooked water from all windows and was a very relaxing place to be.

I was never much of a beach person on either coast so all that was lost on me.

Glad you had a great trip. Now the whole state may fall into this ocean?

I hope not I think most of the fruits and veggies we eat are grown out there.
