I sold my piano to buy an electric, but this followed me home:

Presented for your consideration, a "Lester 64 Spinet" built sometime between 1940 and 1960. I found it on Craigslist locally, and bought it for the asking price of $50 (with bench).

It is beautifully constructed, of solid wood with twin strings and traditional hammers. The entire structure is underpinned by a cast aluminum frame and it has two pedals. When the top is fully closed it creates a small table, 32" high. They were originally sold for people who had apartments, and it weighs around 100 lbs.

Anyone ever try tuning their own piano?

No way, I wouldn't I've been playing for years and every year or so I have mine tuned by a proffessional, the only way to go, you will pay more to have it tuned than you paid for it, but its worth it in my opinion.

Cool find.

A good piano tuner does more than just true everything to Middle C. They know the anatomy of a piano and can catch maintenance things early. Well worth having someone come regularly.

Defiantly not a DIY project.

You know Bubba, I need to know if you mean "defiantly" not or "definitely" not in your posts. You have done this a couple times and I just need to know if I should be giggling out loud because both words could work. One is not so common in the string but should be on this site.:yes::laughing::laughing:

I guessed so but if you look back over the comments where you have spelled it such? Some are pretty funny!:laughing::laughing:
