HVAC School??

Just wondering if there are any short schools for HVAC? Something that will help a kid get started in the trade, that doesn't take a year or more.

Reason? I would like to get my son in a trade, that he can work in while going to college, then keep working in till he finds a job he wants. I really feel he should have a trade, to back up his college education. I have try'd contacting Wyo Tech 3 times to find out how long their course is, but they just say they will call me back, but never do.

Not really, It takes a regular HVAC course certificate which takes probably about a year when you come out you know very little just the minimum basics. It is a very complicated and misunderstood trade that takes many years to learn after the school and believe me the pay sucks.

There is something good that the HVAC Trade gives you which is knowledge of many other trades I'm not saying a mechanic in all the trades but knowledge such as, Electrical, Plumbing, Heating, Air Conditioning, Sheet Metal, Pipe fitting, Controls, Refrigeration, some Carpentry, etc, etc.

I not so much looking for a formal (complete) trade, just some training that will help him get an installation position, where he can look forward to something other than a box cutter store, to work though college. I just clicked on my state and it gave me a few schools near me...I would try it out
