Jaguar is owned by Tata, a huge, huge Indian company (many billlions of sales) that is into education, computers, manufacturing, heavy equipment and just about everything else. They bought Jaguar from Ford for cash, which is the reason Ford is not a part of the government give-away. - Also, they also bought Rover (Land Rover and Range Rover) at the same time.
Just earlier, they brought out the revolutionary Nano, which is a sub-compact for $2500 (an extra $400 for AC) that even Tata can not keep up with the sales. It is only made for the huge Indian and SE Asia markets that are almost half of the world's population.
Typical to the Indian posture, they are low key and just keep on with education, profits and technology, contrary to other corporate images. Larson Tubro is a similar Indian company that only hires the top 1 or 2% of the cream of the crop.
One of GM's biggest markets for Buick is China, which some people say buys more Buicks than than the U.S. A Chinese buyer will prefer a Mercedes or BMW, but will buy a Buick or Impala if the want a "tank".
