How much would it typicly cost to get a AC unit certified?

I found someone selling a central AC for rather cheap so I would install it, but still need someone to come certify it, and charge it up. How much would this typicaly cost? Also since I'd be buying as is, is there any major issues with an improperly sized unit? Undersize I can see, it would run all the time, but what about slightly oversized?

Red.,

Normally I don't say too much however you did bring up few good question there are couple items it will be addressed and a good HVAC contractor will able determed the size of the house to see if the A/C is proper sized and the inside coil is matched with the outdoor unit { I know some A/C units may cover couple size indoor coil }

If it was little oversized it will not run very often but the humity level that may not affect due short cooling cycle.

But some HVAC contractors may not want to use the Used coils unless they run the test first.

Cost to hook up and charge the unit it will depending on the HVAC

For the electric side it depending on the exsting load centre if plenty room it is not a issue.

Electrical side, I'd make room for now if I have to, but I plan to get a bigger panel eventually. What would I be looking at, 30 amps?

Red.,

Most case what I useally run into for electrial requirement for central A/C typical 30 amp most case unless you got one of big unit { over 5 tonne } then it will be 40 or 50 depending on the nameplate.

Yeah., Of course you will need a A/C disconnect switch or pull out switch and also you should have a outdoor receptale near the A/C unit no more than 8 meter away from A/C unit { most case I set up a recepetale useally 2 or 3 meter away from A/C unit.

If you have 200 amp service it may not too bad depending on the house size and what ya got in there.

100 amp IMO I will say just squeak by only if you have gaz stove , gas water heater , gaz dryer

But it will affect by size of your house as well.

Merci,Marc
