How do I clean the outside of my house?

My husband and I just purchased a house and the outside is rock, well most of it. I've seen on other sites that just to use bleach and a power washer. Is that all I need? Just bleach? I'm afraid the power washer will somehow mess up the rock. Please help me, I've searched and searched and I can't get a direct answer on this.

The output pressure is controlled by the user.

Another option:

Lean a ladder against your house. Place a bucket of cleaning solution on the ground about half way between the base of the ladder and your house. Screw a scrub brush onto a painting pole. The screw thread on a scrub brush will be the same as the one on a paint roller frame. Stand half way up the ladder so that you can dip your brush in the cleaning solution on the ground and use it to clean the side of your house.

If your house is too tall to reach the roofline with a painting pole, pass the pole down to a helper standing on the ground to load up with cleaning solution and pass it back to you, and you just stand higher on the ladder.

Rinse the cleaning solution off the house with a garden hose.

If your house is stone, why exactly do you want to clean it? Normally, people clean the outside of a house prior to repainting it, but that wouldn't be the case here.

What kind of cleaning solutioin? Just bleach and water? My house is stone and no we're not going to paint it, but it has what looks like water rust all over the stone, the stucco part of the house had it too, but the guys just painted over the marks before we moved in.

Pictures would help us help you.

Rust stain removal usually takes more acidic chemicals. Depth and location of stain might require additional or other efforts.

If you goal is the get the dirt and grime... yes P-wash / pretreat with bleach solution is sop. Or as Nestor advised.

other problems may require other solutions.

Here are some pictures, hopefully if they go through. Now I know that the rock will have some of this color in it when it's washed, but it does look to me that rust is all over the rock. I don't expect the rocks to shine or to be white. I would just like to clean them so they do look like decent rock.

We don't know who did it. The previous owner of the house had a lot of good ideas but, I don't think either that planned on passing away and his house being sold. Thanks for the help though, I guess I'll just have to try what I can. The website helped a little, I atleast think that's what kind of stone it is, who knows though. Thanks again, you've been a lot of help.

Magik rust remover is the number one seller for the hard rust stains. I sell gallons of this product. The great thing about it is that you do not have to scrubb or powerwash. Spray it on and it works by itself. Give a light rinse with your garden hose, and like magik it is gone! If you would like some E-mail me and we can get it shipped out to you.

Isnt that orchard stone? Looks like the stone walkway we have. If it is, its supposed to look like that. The only picture where they look dirty are the three under the dryer vent with the green tint to them. Looks like moss growing on the rock.
