Homework question!!!

Hello
My son has a homework question that has stumped me and i wonder if anyone can help...give an example of two switches that are connected in series in a typical house. I thought all circuits in the home were in parallel. Can anyone help?

Homework question!!!

A three way switch setup has the two switches in series.

Current path: from panel breaker to switch #1 to switch #2 to light to neutral back to panel.
