home warranty question

I am looking for the best home warranty company.Any recomendations

The house I bought came with a warranty through American Home Shield. Couple weeks after moving in the hot water tank went. They replaced it without any hassle, the only downside was it happened on a Saturday and had to wait until Monday for someone to come replace it. Overall I was pleased with the experience and just renewed with them for another year since both my furnace and AC are almost 20 years old and are bound to go soon.

they're all about the same. I've got AHS. my good opinion of them may change depending on how they handle my furnace.

(leaking CO,needs to be replaced)

AHS might be looking better. their heating people just left and they agree the furnace needs to be replaced. (11 ppm of CO leaking) now,it's a matter of seeing just what AHS will do.

What sort of terms do you have? I imagine it would be for a year's commitment? I also assume that you can start and stop the coverage? What other constraints are there on the agreement?

Someone once told me that these were a good idea and I meant to look into it, but I forgot to.

I took AHS's "cash out" on my furnace,since I don't want any "cheapo" but a good furnace. they're giving me $689. can you believe that? that is what they give their local contractor for a new furnace. what kind of furnace can he get for $689? I guess that's why they called to tell me about all the things they DON'T cover and which I'd have to pay the contractor when he installed the cheapo,came to over $1200.
I'm going with a "Trane" from someone else and I guess I'll just have to be content with the "pittance" they're giving me.

at least it's SOMETHING. more than I'd get if I had NO warranty.
BTW,I think they're all the same,don't think other warranty companies would be much more generous.
