Hired a contractor- intalled windows from outside?

I know this is DIY and we would have done it ourself but maybe someone has had vinyl replacement windows installed or done it yourself.

Our contractor is installing them from the outside by taking off the wood trim and wood stops on the outside - no minimum explanding foam and says he will stuff insulation in there before putting on aluminum trim and vinyl siding.

Anyone see a problem with this?
They've had several problems squaring the windows up due to settling of this old house. And I think they've gotten lucky with the rest!
It is through a lead abatement program and I wasn't sure if this was the procedure to prevent lead from getting inside the house?
But there are enclosures you can use to contain the lead inside?

I'm confused. We've installed 4 windows ourselves and my husband does the job and does it right and well, this is very different from what he did.

If I need to move this post to a different forum please let me know!

THANKS!

many window installers only install from the outside, aside from the lead issue, there is no inside trim disturbance and less mess in your home, good installer can do it either way successfully

I agree with Tom.

" says he will stuff insulation in there" ---- WHAT? Not fiberglass! Not stuff!

Be safe, Gary

Sounds like all insert windows. IMO, a new construction window is MUCH better, especially since you are doing siding at the same time.

our guys did it the same way,,, MUCH faster & less cleanup inside which greatly pleased my bride, nagzilla
