A hike through the sugar bush

I'm orginaly from NH out in woods so we had a lot of sap houses around.
We were just there a little while ago and the one place was using the honer system and just had it sitting on the shelve in a shed and a metal box to put your money in.
$28.00 a gal.
Local churchs used to have fund rasers and have home made donuts, apple pie, cheddar cheese cut right off the block. They would bring in fresh snow and pore the boiled down syrup over the snow and it would harden like caramel.
The cheese and pie was to cut the sweetness of the syrup.

I like it over maple walnut ice cream to.
