Not every LEO is heartless. There are some really good ones out there like this one.

You're right. I think there are far more good than bad. But like most people, you only hear about the bad most of the time.

I get the Police One blotter every day. I glance at the stories, but find them usually in my Facebook feed either a few days before, or same day the blotter is mailed.

Our 'meanscream media' loves to report the bad, but rarely reports the good.

gma....thanks for posting that....

No one ever reports the good I do....they only complain about me putting them in jail

I had a family a few years ago in my daycare that the dad was a sergeant in the county sheriff's dept. and the mom was a deputy sheriff.

One day there was something going on that was on the news and I asked the dad about it. He told me some facts about the story and told me that it's rare that the media ever tells the full truth - whether intentional or not. He said that one particular local station almost always slanted the story to make the officers or the whole department look bad.

great story.

The good ones don't get enough press.

I worked on ambulance for a few years and when we would work something that would make the news, like a bad accident VERY rarely would they get it right. They would have the wrong person driving, the wrong car going the wrong way always something.

A short but sweet video. It's not new, but it's worth watching if you haven't seen it.

Great story! I have a brother in law who is a police officer. They deal with a lot of negative situations. It's refreshing to see something so positive. My brother in law rescued a young boy from a fiery car crash. He sat in his squad car and held the boy until the ambulance arrived. His father unfortunately didn't survive. The media needs to report more of the positive instead of always negative.

You're right Karen. They do need to report more of the positive. It seems like they always say that good news doesn't get good ratings, but I know I'd watch a tv news show that was mostly positive stories. I think a lot of people would.
