Yeah, I saw that on the Free Press. The cat cannonballed that dog.

I imagine the dog owners are in deep sheet with the authorities now.

I saw that, but I wonder why it was not on a leash or properly fenced in. Somebody will have to answer for that unless it is a stray.

Cats can be nasty and go for the dogs eyes. They do get along as Mom has a Pug and 2 cats that sleep together and tussle once in a while. One swipe on the nose and the Pug backs off.

Cats do look out for their own. You just have to work a little harder to get that level of respect out of them.

The cat did not do that to defend the boy. It went after the trespasser.
It worked very well for the boy but was not the cat's intention.
Cats don't do that...

This cat must be the exception to that rule.

The parents of the boy were interviewed on tv this morning. When asked if the dog had shown any aggression in the past, they said that it barked furiously through the fence that divides their backyards and that whenever the dog had been out in the front yard, the owners were also out there. But this time the dog was out there alone.

If all cats were like that, there would be more cats in the world and less violent crime.

Cats are solitary by nature but they can develop pack behavior when they "share" territory. We have 18 of them in the house and the social dynamics are most interesting. We don't get company often (because we have 18 cats in the house) but when we do the dominant cats take a defensive posture.
