Hail damage update

Sort of good news, bad news. Damage estimate, $10,600. They cut me a check for around $6400. All the roof and siding was prorated at 15 years old. They will cover full replacement cost up to the $10,600 but the contractors will have to get anything over $6400 out of them. The bad news is it only cover 3 sides of the house, so if I want the 4th side done, its on me. The other bad news is, my 60 year old windows need replaced and I have to cover that too along with the gable ends that they say are not damaged. I'm guessing I'll spend $3-$4000 out of pocket before this is over.
Anybody want to buy a kidney ??

At least your safe. I remember my cousin had just gotten a brand new car, her first. She got caught in a hail storm strong enough to blow her windshield completely into safety glass pellets and do substantial body damage. She was more than a bit freaked out!

And then she got home and saw the damage to her house and just had a melt down.

Cool your jets boys. You should not be suggesting any of this until you have memorized, "Organ Harvesting for Dummies!" and "Surgical Techniques Adapted for the Home Workshop and DIYer---Learn to do Complex Surgery with Common Household Tools".

Picked a contractor. Ordered 9 new construction windows. Spent $150 on tools and a couple hundred+ on a fiberglass front door. Got that installed today. Windows should be here in a week. Contractor says he will start on roofs (3) while i am doing windows. Wish me luck. Never was crazy about having others do work for me but not much choice on this. I'm too old to be packing 90# bundles of shingles up a ladder.

Yea, good idea. Allstate is picking up the tab on the roof and siding though. My neighbor took the check from his insurance and is doing the repairs himself. Should make a nice profit on that. I dont know him well enough to say how his DIY skills will work out though. I just want the whole deal done, soon.
