Got me a new truck-------

The truck had dual batteries and the block heater was on all night---I called my assistant and told him I'd try later and to just go back to sleep---

My torpedo heater is on a job---and my battery charger is fried--so --coffee and pancakes----

We had a cold snap back in 96 I think it was. -20 for several days. I had to take my battery in the house with me if I wanted to start my truck the next morning.

This is a diesel---so there may be a fuel delivery problem----I don't want to run the batteries down--I'll wait--it will be a nice warm 0 soon---

it's 13 below zero right now----the truck fired up but I just don't think I'm going to go to the city today-----if the truck craps out I could have a bad day----

you using diesel fuel treatment ( ie power service white bottle )?

good idea on not going, fuel can gel while driving, that makes it a royal pia. best time to have diesel fuel 911 at the ready.

I've never had gelling problems yet (bought 2005) ( knock on wood) but I try to be prepared.

I don't have any life saving treatments---and I don't know this truck very well---

Another big concern--this job is in the city---building has a tiny three car lot off an ally--if the tenants cars are not out of the lot I can't work----this sucker is big and uses two spaces----truck would be stripped clean by thieves if I parked on the street.

this is what I start using if its really cold

http://www.powerservice.com/dfs/

this is what I have for emergencies

http://www.powerservice.com/d911/

never used the 911 except for when a fiend with a VW diesel called me from side of highway with gelled fuel. his car would run, but wouldn't get past idle. we dropped some 911 in, let it idle for 20 minutes or so, and all was ok.

*note to self, avoid big cities. much less stress.

next week should start getting warmer ( after Monday )

Another trick with these trucks is to cycle the glow plugs a second time when it's really cold out.

good grief -13 it has never been that cold here at least in my life time. You might want to buy one of the portable battery boosters, these things are worth every penny they cost.

Those are a handy tool----the truck is fine now---I have no idea of the age of the batteries--they look good but I'll have to check the dates---

Previous owner took good care of this old Ford---
