Google Maps on a cell phone?

Has anyone installed this?
Do you only buy the software, then buy map upgrades yearly or as needed?
Or is there a monthly charge?

nah. you just download it. It's free and the maps are not actually on your phone.

Google Maps on a cell phone?

Free, I have it on blackberry with an unlimited data plan... the only cost is if you pay per kilobyte of data, it can add up quick because like npa said, the maps are downloaded. Great program if you ever need to find a store location/number real fast on the road. My phone doesn't have a GPS, I've heard Google can triangulate your position from the cell tower you are near, so its not as accurate down to 5 feet like a GPS, but good enough for the price!

Google Maps on a cell phone?

Thanks
We have a GPS - Garmin
But I was thinking this would make a nice back-up

We need to get new phones so wanted to check 1st to make see how it works. Then make sure the phone is compatible

Very nice backup, especially for when you're out walking since it has options for: driving, transit, walking. I've been using it since it had those features as internal builds only, and it's been pretty much flawless.

I don't know how I lived without it! I've been using it on my Blackberry Curve for a while now. Simply wonderful software! Totally free.
