Good news!

Sounds you you did well. I worked for a crap company for 36 years, mostly because I was afraid of the unknown. Unemployment was something that scared me to death. When they went out of business, I found that jobs are out there. Jobs that I like much better. I hope you like your new job much better than the old.

Good news!

Four calls today, can't complain. Even though this company is right next door to my last one which was 35 miles from home, I do not have to go to the shop each day like I used to. I only used an eigth of a tank of petrol today.

Btw, I spoke with my old boss today for the first time in a civil manner. He had not called me since Friday when he told me he sent me my check in the mail and I had called him a few times since.

I called this morning and left a pretty nasty and harsh message on his voicemail. I guess that got to him and he called me, hot.

We ended up on good terms, myself apologizing for all that I've said, all the nasty messeges. Told him I wished he would've just called me back and I wouldn't have thought he was trying to avoid and not pay me. He said he understood my point of view, said he did send a check to the address on my ID. Of course that's not the right one seeing as how I've moved, one of the reasons I kept calling and asking him what address he sent it to but of course he never answered so I inevitabley became more and more upset until I physically threatened him this morning in a messege and he finally called me back , but we'll be meeting tomorrow to square up and on good terms.

I feel like a jerk but not really.

Good news!

Okay, now I do feel like a jerk.

My old boss just called me to ask if I had received the check. Nope, the address he sent it to was from years an years ago and all mail to there will be forewarded to Midland, Tx, where my mother now lives.

He mentioned how upset he was that he had a "Thanksgiving from Hell" and that's why he shut himself off over the weekend and not talked to anyone. Said that's also why he spoke rude to me, after I left a few not so well thought out messeges.

Said he was going to stop payment on that check and for me to call him in the morning and we'll meet up and he'll cut me another check, new one.

I asked him how business was going, if he had any calls. Said he did nine (9) by himself today. 5 or 6 is a lot, nine is overload.

He then offered me to take some tomorrow, if I wanted to. Told him I went to MJS, started today but that I wanted to work for him and that I wished none of this happened so I'd still be there. He left the conversation by telling me that whenever I leave MJS because of my current boss (apparently there's a high turnover rate due to this guy) "pissing on my plate" to just call him, he'll put me right back to work.

I'm such a nincompoOp. Ronnie is a good guy, probably the most laid back and helpful and sincere boss I've ever had.

Damn.

Yup. I'm going to meet with him this morning, to get paid. I'll apologize for my lame behavior one last time and then put it behind me.

Thanks.

It sounds like you didn't "burn bridges" (maybe "singed" a little!)
That's always a good thing!

Nope, sure didn't. He wanted me to take a few calls today and I think I may still be able to do it, just after I'm finished with the new company's calls. I might end up still helping him out, working for both.

I was feeling bad that maybe I had left him hung out to dry but another friend of his in the same biz who is slowing down has a few employees looking to help him out as well.

We all intermingle, know and help one another down here. It'll all work out.
