I remember the gas lines in Calfornia. What manufactured nonsense but neither the California nor the US attorney generals ever did much to those who perpertrated it all.

I was just starting to be seeing eye dog for my Mom. Among other things it involved taking her a few times per week or sometimes twice per day about 45 miles to the Palo Alto Retinal Clinic. They were the first to do laser eye surgery and she was among the early patients being treated for diabetic retinopathy. She went legally blind and her license had to be yanked and her car keys hidden.

I drove a Pontiac Firebird with the hugest V8 money could buy at the time, and a truck. That Firebird got all of about 10 miles to the gallon or something ridiculous with the air conditioning running. The only way to get gas on days other than odd/even was to get the car serviced. That thing got is oil changed twice a month, a lube job, radiator flush or just about anything to be able to get to the head of the line for gas.

We had our own pump for the landscape yard I worked for at the time but we got heavily rationed so had to watch it. It was not about charging more for deliveries. It was about being able to commit to them.

Deisel is not so much that its made from "left overs", its petrol thats LESS refined. So, less costly to make. You still have to manufacture deilsel. leftover or not. It has a cost.

The rippoff comes in, like many here explained, is its lower demand, so more cost to distrubute. Buut, I suspect theres some scam affect here. Deisel affords 30-40% more gas mileage, so its huge as far as economical usage. Only thing- engines cost more.

US is in the dark ages still with deisel- Europe has it together in this department- no contest. The people here havre no one else to blame but their own ignorance.

As physicist Neil DeGrasse put it. If aliens landed today I'd be embarrased at the fact our energy still comes from dead dinosaurs...
