Garden hose

We just brought a new garden hose at store. Seriously, what can possibly go wrong here ??? Initially, nice fresh water came out (as fresh as city supplied water can be i guess). Well, the next day i noticed that in spraying our deck i noticed the water was foaming up and it smelled like bleach. What's going on here ?

Chemicals leaching from it.

The plastics in hoses aren't really good ones.

PS- On that note, do not drink from garden hoses due to the possibility of bacteria and parasites being in or on the hose! Odds are, the chemicals in the hose, or the water treatment by the municipality are causing the froth and smell.

All stones try to get back to the ground no matter how you stack 'em.

Garden hose

Thanks guys. Our neighbors house was being worked on. I asked the plumber there my problem. The only thing he could of was that maybe the city water dept. was doing maintenance work with cleaners. I think it's the hose itself. I bought the hose brand new. Been using it regularly since i posted and today we are still getting that foam and bleach like smell. My concern is it safe to water our plants ?

Id call the town water dept and ask them about it, but Im guessing its just chlorine used to kill bacteria in the water supply. If your plants havent shown any issues already, Id guess theres no issue with it. Id still call the water dept though. Good luck.

That amount of chlorine will not affect plants. Foam? Was your hose hot from the sun?? The heat combined with maybe vapors still being emitted from the fresh plastic could be causing the foam. is the hose cheap vinyl? Hot vinyl stinks bad- and is cancer causing (like the stinky vapors from a new shower curtain). best I can figure........

Never drink water from a hot , cheap, vinyl hose!!!!!!
