I'm reading between the lines here Doc...I feel your pain. Don't forget to vacuum constantly and change the bags often. The litle nasties can go dormant for a long time

Its best if you get your dogs on a preventative. Something like revolution. It takes care of heartworm at the same time. Once a month you rub the little tube of med. on the nape of the neck and thats the end of your worries

I've used Advantix last year on my girl which only somewhat worked. I'll be getting Frontline this time around. That's the only one I've heard of that absolutely works.

Expensive to boot, too!

I've used Frontline for years---It's the only one that has worked for me (and my dog (RIP))

Pricey but it works--Mike---We have a woodsy lot and the dog used to always sleep in the shade--

We had 2 cats that had fleas last winter. We were able to get rid of them - or so I thought - but a month or so later, they were back. And they had brought a lot of their friends..

I tried the drops, bug bombs, flea collars, shampoo, baths with Dawn dish soap, but none of that worked.

What finally worked was rubbing food-grade diatomaceous earth into their fur and 'spraying' the powder around in the house. What a mess, but it worked. The DE had to be rubbed into their fur once or twice a week to kill the fleas that were still hatching.

Good luck getting rid of them Doc.

What a pain Barb ! You've got to be diligant Doc.

I've never heard of frontline, but I wouldn't be surprised if its the same formula as our version of revolution.

The idea being that after they bite the host, they are sterilized, thus producing no more eggs. So when you first start on this treatment you may still see a few until the lifecycle runs its course.

Down south you probably keep your pet on a once a month schedule year round. We just go from april/may to november.

That's the basis for all of these meds but FL appears to work.
