You've named two people. And I think the world of both of their generous ways. But I do believe if you took a head count of the Big Boys (and girls) you'd likely find not many of them turn loose of the purse strings too often.

Of course none of us poorer folks can ever know the truth of any of this, but I recently read that just a mere seven (7) of the world's richest men (and you know there are untold thousands and thousands of them throughout the world) possess the excess, expendable funds to completely eradicate world hunger.

Think about that. Just seven men.

I think we both know that most only give away what the tax accountants tell them will be beneficial to them. Sure, it's often a thousand times our yearly incomes... but I suspect a lot goes to art endowments and polo clubs.

well,, here is a headcount along with the amount given. Granted, this is a few years old so I suspect you can add something to the amount they have given.

It also gives the base area of gifting. I think you may be a bit surprised.

REMEMBER.........TINSTAAFL!

Entitlement? Dang right.

This is business, not human rights. They did not do this for the betterment of society. They did it for the advertisement so they could increase their business.

They offered, I did not ask for them to offer anything for free. Once they offered, they obligated themselves. Now, what we have is some folks got some food, at some cost (had to fill out the form thereby placing ones self on a mailing list; had to print the coupon; had to obtain the food; obviously there is some cost to all of that) and apparently a lot of folks that feel it was a bait and... well, simply a baiting with no reward.

Not a good way to improve customer relations and customer satisfaction.

My money spends at any of the hundreds of restaurants in my area just as well as KFC. If I liked the new chicken, it may very well have garnered part of my disposable income. Now, I do intentionally avoid KFC. I tend not to do business with businesses that treat me with such disdain.

and I really did like their honey BBQ wings.

You can't offer something for free & then take it away
As Nap said, this was advertising pure & simple

Brighams had free ice cream the other day
While they did run out of some flavors at the end of the day they never ran out of ice cream
They had extra workers on hand to handle the people
One person was taking orders & writing them down on paper
Then you simply hand the paper to the person filling the order at the window
Despite a line it went very fast

KFC Mgr's/help were rude & felt as if they were being put out
The exception was one girl at the counter who was trying to cheer people up & apologized for the reduced selection & running out

The suit calls the tactic “bait and switch” and said customers incurred “travel costs, paper and printing costs, postage, the money they spent on other food items at KFC on visits when they had intended to redeem the coupon … and the loss of the value of the promised meal,” TMZ reported.

The suit seeks unspecified damages.
Unspecied damages?

Travel costs, paper and printing costs: $1 - $2

Postage: $0. KFC offered to mail them from the restaurant after filling out the form.

Money spent...at KFC...when they intended to redeem the coupon: Nobody held a gun to their head to make them order food. Tough luck!

Loss of the value of the promised meal: wait for the raincheck you ungrateful whiner. I hope they don't include the free drink with your raincheck.

Sheesh! The judge should rule in this guys favor. He should award the guy a generous amount, say....$3. Then let him pay his own lawyer fees and maybe KFC's lawyer fees, just for wasting their time.

Good post jbfan! That is a joke.

It wouldn't even be a surprise if it became a class action suit. Maybe we need another Czar to handle things like this. We have them for everything else! *sarcasm* Just kidding.

When people are on their lunch 1/2 hour they may not have had time to go elsewhere. The smart thing for KFC to have done would have been to accept the coupon & give them a different flavor of chicken. The only people who win from class action lawsuits are the attorneys. Unfortunately its the only way to keep some companies honest
