They're probably sitting around in some closet, along with the "skeletons"
from your past!
Oops!
I think I said too much!
Sorry!

A few people I've met

I enjoyed reading this all yesterday and can't wait for the other stories. Good stories about good people, good stuff. These are my favorite thing to read, interesting stories about interesting people.
Ever thought of publishing them?

Sorry it's taken so long to write this one.

It's hard to tell you about two very ordinary people who lived a simple ,yet extraordinary life.

A few people I've met

Many years back I joined a local Nature and camera club. It was time to get out and meet a few new people and improve my photography.

At the end of the meeting members came over to introduce themselves and one mentioned that the Kohouts were putting on a 2 day seminar on close up nature shooting.

I had no idea who the Kohouts were but I looked at a flier on the table and the class sounded good and the price was cheap---Taught at a local church--

I didn't expect much--but I wasn't a good photographer and figured I could keep up in a class taught by a club member.

A few people I've met

There were 100 people or so all shuffling for seats and an excited buzz filled the room.

The class came to order as a thin man in a checked shirt stepped up to the podium said hello and the microphone clipped to his glasses promptly fell to the floor.

A few people I've met

A few people began to laugh as John Kohout refastened the microphone and ,chuckling himself, explained," I just made this and I haven't got the clip worked out yet. I know you can buy these but I had the parts and what can I say,I'm a Bohemian."

He had everyone relaxed and laughing. John and his wife Kitty put on a great weekend of learning.

They could make the most complicated things seem so simple . They both had European accents which is pretty common in this area. John has constantly cracking up the class with some misspoken word or one of his homemade devices that would spring apart ---

But the learning happened----those two made photography the simplest thing in the world to do.

A few people I've met

To me they were just ordinary folks--friendly and approachable.

As I got to know them over the next few years I was pleased to find out that John and Kitty were published in nearly a thousand books and magazines---

Kitty was the best with animals --It would be a safe guess that you have seen one or two shots of hers on a calendar or book cover.

"Weeds! Dat'z vare the money is." John said with a laugh. "Those seed and fertilizer companies need dandelions for their adds and no one else has as many pictures of weeds as I do!"

His keen assessment of a problem--and a quick simple solution to a problem was his trademark.

A few people I've met

John was always solving some problem inside his head--and Kitty was the focus and aim in their world.

They liked each other.

I know that sounds silly when thinking of a husband and wife, especially to you younger folks.

But it's rare and special.

John was like an absent minded professor---something would happen that was more interesting than what he was working on and the next thing you know he was off in that direction, like a young child.

Kitty would patiently cross her arms and pipe in,"Ahem,Oh,John," and he would be back with us.

Like I said--pretty ordinary people---Especially for world famous photographers.

A few people I've met

As time went by I took more classes from those two. As I stocked up on the inventions that John made (and Kitty sold at the end of the classes ) I began to learn A bit about their past.

You see, they had first met in Czechoslovakia while fighting in the resistance during world war II.
