We joke about music from our past. What do you listen to now?
I gave Melody Gardot's, My One and Only Thrill to friends for Christmas. It was addressed to my BFF but her husband saw it and said I have been thinking of buying this forever. He did keep the gift but loaded and paid for it to play in her gallery.
Of course The Dog Song from the explicit, not available in WalMart or box store, first album by Nellie McKay cracks me up. The album is Get Away from Me. My second favored cut is Won't U Please B Nice.
My favorite current tune is "Baby You're A Firework".... I'm not sure if that's the title though.
The reason is, before I'd heard the song, my 6 year old grandson and 4 year old granddaughter sang it together all the time. I love the sound of kids singing together.
Then, one night when I was driving alone, the song came on the radio and I started laughing because I realized that they had almost all of the words wrong - except for the "baby you're a firework" part. That's the part they belted out nice n' loud. I wish I'd recorded them singing it.

I seem to like a lot of stuff that is not on mainstream radio. Or at least not yet.
I stream indie103.1 online at work, it's a great station out of LA, and they play a ton of cool stuff that isn't on big radio yet.
Some never gets there, some takes years to get there. Regular radio bores me- the same 20 songs get played time after time. Yawn.
