Extreme Makeover: Home Edition CANCELLED

When that show first came on I was hOoked.

Remember the one where the people toOk in about 7 or 8 kids, had them for years, and once the parents had a nice, new huge home via the show they kicked all the kids out? Those kids sued ABC. Not sure of the result thugh.

Still no court decision or closure I don't think.

There are other law suits also. The biggest problem that has existed is they replaced a 1000 sq ft house with a 5000 sq ft house and then later the owners couldn't pay the taxes or the utilities and had to mortgage the property. Eventually they also couldn't make the mortgage payments. Imagine that?

Nine years is a long time for any show to run, I think - but especially such an extreme show as that.

Not everything's perfect - but I think they did more good than harm.

Watched that show once. Just because I knew one of the volunteers. He talked about how they stepped over each other and the work was miss-scheduled. They helped people who couldn't afford the houses. I know of some Habitat people who have lost those homes, too. Doesn't help in the long run.

Never liked the show. It is phony from the git-go.

Ty Pennington was nothing more than a carpenter building closet shelves on a "house flip show" on HGTV before he was noticed and landed the "Extreme" show.

"MOVE THAT TY" !

Many of the techniques and processes they employed in the actual construction were recipes for disaster. Only a fool would ever set themselves up to stand behind any warranties on those homes.

Exactly.

Basically, the show was crap. Virtually all hype, and Ty Pennington screaming relentlessly. People laughed, and cried, and cheered as the bus moved and showed an unbelievably over-built and bawdy monstrosity.

Who are we kidding? Most of these families were not helped by Ty & crew. In fact, in the long run they were worse off.

The show being canceled is a good riddance.

Like most TV hosts, he wasn't picked for his skills. It was because he looked good on camera.

The girl I found was annoying as hell to me. The thin blonde always wearing pink.

I know if someone paid me to do a show like that I'd jump all over it, I'm easy on the eyes!

My looks would go better on "Tales from the Darkside".

Before the show came here to do an episode I thought the TV people bought all the supplies, they don't buy anything, they have people scout around for donations of the materials and what they don't come up with the people have to pay for them. Ty doesn't do anything but stay out of the way except for a brief time they film. The show is bogus.

They pick causes that will tug at a viewers heartstrings and choke up the audience. People are suckers for such things. They seek out people in wheel chairs and kids with illnesses and single parent families.

This bogus helping hand sells tickets and draws an audience. Once the audience is in mass and the ratings are up there it is easy to sell high dollar commercials to advertisers. They beg everything they can to be donated in return for a video shot of a branded truck making a delivery and the millions of real dollars go to the shows producers and creators and early investors.

Hell Ty Pennington makes $75,000.00 per episode and with his show-related endorsements and personal appearances because of the show he earns ten million per year. He has racked up fifteen million on the shows alone and I'm sure all of his expenses are paid for. Not bad for a no-talent carpenter from Georgia. He has the same game going in Europe at the same time also.
