dream car

Ive been trying to come up with an answer. Been a car guy all my life. Had some pretty fast ones and still do. Never had anything crazy expensive though. Exotics dont do much for me. I just cant think of one certain car that I'd call a dream car. Maybe a Viper coupe...........maybe not. Have to drive one first.

dream car

I just saw a local car that was unique and well thought out.

It was a 2011 Ford Flex (low, square, smooth sides) with lots of room like an old station wagon. It is not a high, bulky SUV., but it carries a bunch of kids in style.

The owner left the flat, long silver top. I think it was a dark forest green body. The owner must have been a master carpenter/furniture builder and turned it into a modern "woodie" with class. The sides were tightly hand fitted 3/4" birch(?) framing a darker veneer (walnut) in the field with all joints tight and a great finish. The interior was a tan leather (original or replacement?), but it all fit together with the dark green paint. - Not a cheap thing!

I think the owner also has a VW cabriolet (convertible) that was shipped back to Germany to have a small VW V8 (about 240 ci) with twin turbos installed and somehow got it out of Germany and into the U.S. and licensed legally. He probably drove it in Europe and shipped it as used with American DOT approved glass and downgraded to American lights and returned it from some other country and found a friendly person to get it approved and licensed. The standard double walled, insulated top apparently works well in the cold MN winters.

I have no idea what he has invested, but it is what he wants and is proud of it as long as you do not touch it.

Dick

10-15yrs ago, I would have said a Cobra also. Kit or the real deal. Nowadays, I'd like to have a vintage 50s era anything. Like a '52 Plymouth all decked out with modern underpinnings, interior and drive train.
For daily transportation, an Audi TT.

I've always been a car-guy. Some cars come into favor, some fade out. One car has always stayed with me as a "someday I hope I can own one" car:

Porsche 911. If we start getting picky, a 1993/4 964 Turbo version of the 911. Seeing as there were only about 1500 produced, not likely I will ever own this flavor. If anyone remembers the original "Bad Boys" movie, that was what Will Smith drove.

I'd like to say a first generation Camaro as well, but I already have one, and unfortunately it's been sideways on the "rotisserre" ever since I went into business...................

I've always said "next year I'll bring it home for the winter and start working on it again", but now with little ones running around the house, it could be another 12+ years...............
