Dog Heaven

My girl Pumpkin, whom I've had since she was maybe a month to two months old ten years ago, went to dog Heaven this past Monday. Carcinoma, huge tumor on her throat. Incurable.

Her last breath was in my arms. Damn, thought I knew what pain was, boy was I wrong!

Rest in peace, my girl.

I feel for you Doc. I went through a similar ordeal a couple years ago.
My long time family dog passed in my arms as well......

Doc:
Sorry to hear the bad news about Pumpkin. I know it sucks but just remember that she had a long and happy life. You made that happen for her.

My Kodiak passed in May/2013. His Tumour was in his belly. He was 11 and I was with him as well.

I'm sorry you lost your little buddy Doc. It's so hard to lose such a sweetie like that.

After my little Sadie passed away, it took a while to get used to her not being here. At night, when I walked into the kitchen, I automatically looked at the bottom of the sliding glass doors to see if she was ready to come back inside. Of course, she wouldn't be there, but old habits are hard to break.

oh, I'm so sorry for your loss. We lost our Beagle almost Three
years ago. We both miss him terribly. I swear I still hear his nails
clicking on the hardwood floors.
All of us dog and cat lovers know your pain.

In memory of your Pumpkin sweetie...here's a favorite poem of mine.

I watched a friends dog for the weekend and even after a week it is still hard to adjust to not having him here. I could not image the pain of losing a family pet. I am very sorry for your lose.

I have had to do it twice now and I agree and as creeper said, just think of the good years you gave her

Doc,

Very sorry to hear Pumpkin's passing.

We put down our 15 year old Lab/Beagle mix about 6 months ago and have a 16 year old Shepherd/mut mix that is getting old.

All I can say is that time does lessen the wound and the healing of the wound is remembering all the good times that you had with your girl.

When my wife and I reflect on Brody (our guy) now, it is mostly with giggles and laughs about his antics and mischievous behavior as compared to tear from only a couple of months ago.

They are family members and their passing does leave a much larger hole than you initially account for so don't be surprised or discouraged if you are dealing with the loss months down the road and find yourself making a tear with no apparent reason.

My heart goes out to you and I firmly believe that we will see our loved ones in heaven and my pups certainly get included in that list. I am sure yours do as well.

Eric
