Do You Have Pets?

How many of you have pets?

Are they like members of the family?

Share pictures if you have them!

I have two cats. (You're not a crazy old cat lady until you have more than that, right?)

Both are rescues and spoiled rotten.

Do You Have Pets?

We have a 4 year old cat called Dakota, picked her up at garage sale. And a one year old, 8 pound designer mutt called Fargo, my niece up in Canada had puppies and gave me a call....oh auntie? Three years ago we had to put our 11 year old golden down because of health issues and until my niece brought up this pup we weren't ready for a new dog.
I just have to say that it's a huuuuge difference going from a permanent 72 pound shedder to an 8 pound non shedder, everything is smaller and cheaper! So if we ever get a third pet I'm told we have to name it North 😇

Then 2 cats....also strays....Josie is the one in my avatar.....the other cat...Caramel...doesn't like her picture being taken....14year old calico....quiet type....shows up for food....and earns her keep by making sure there are no rats near by.

A lot of cat owners here! My wife says no to cats. But we have had dogs for years. Our latest one we found at a rescue. He's camera shy too

Do You Have Pets?

We have had 3 cats. The first was a one year old black female(spayed) that walked into my soon to be wifes apartment (coastal CT directly on the LI sound) because the door to the second floor apartment could not be locked(or even closed). She plopped down and took over and decided to stay. My wife worked for a vet and immediately knew she needed to get a litter box. From then on for a few years see would wander outside (even on neighboring roofs - close houses), but never on the 50 mile long sandy beach. She died about 12 years later only 3 months after a thyroid surgery that was over $1800 including recovery at the Michigan State Veterinary Hospital.

It only took a few months before my wife decided to find a replacement that was a male black long hair, now called Walter Croncat. A year later, she needed another and found a black long haired male "barn cat" that became the brother of Walter. He died at age 15 from liver problems, but Walter (16+) is still going on.

Cats are very friendly and independent and can be trained although they will not admit to it. The care is minimal and they learn to have their place. No walking or real grooming is required and you just need to feed them twice a day or so and have a litter box cleaned. They never come when you call, but they do show up soon afterward.

Now my wife wants a dachshund. It will not work in a two story townhouse and I will not take it out for a walk at -18F and I don't think she will do it either.

The big Polar Bear, is a 10 year old Yellow Lab, that we adopted from friends of ours. They are moving into a home that the HOA state that you have to either tether your pet outside, or put up a Privacy fence if you want to let the dog outside.

The Chair potato is our 4 year old Golden Retriever. Yes that is her chair. She does not like it if someone sits in her chair.

Maybe something bad, maybe something good. I guess we'll never know, 'cause you're going to guard it. You won't touch it, will you?
