The panning, metal detecting, rock hounding, etc. has always interested me.
A few years back I dug for star garnets with my son- had a blast mucking around in the wet clay soil with a shovel and screen- found some nice ones too!
You got a great looking family buddy.

Judy and I bought a metal detector several years back but for one reason or the other we haven't used it much so far. We are right in the middle of the area of the civil war, it would be so cool to find something one of the solders used back then.

Bob, if it makes us a wuss to sleep comfortable so be it, let all them he men walk around all day with a hurt back. LOL sleeping good makes me a happy camper. I couldn't see your pictures on the computer but I can on this chromebook, that is some beautiful country, I see why you like to camp there.

I guess it all depends why people choose to camp.

I go to escape from everyday life for a bit so mostly I go alone.

I may take my grandkids a few times this summer though.

My idea of camping. No modern technology allowed :-) We go to some pretty nice places, too.

Me and my boys have been camping a few times in the New Forest and love it there. I have trained them up with compass and map on Dartmoor and Salisbury Plain (hard task master that I am!) and they are pretty good and getting themselves around. We hope to do have a camping / surf trip this Easter. Or perhaps on a weekend before term breaks up, so to miss the crowds and get those waves to ourself!

This is our view when we wake up in the morning. Familiar to some of you I am sure.

Would recommend this site here for the discounts on kits as well, can be ridiculously expensive sometimes.

My idea of camping is staying at an Econolodge! We have an outdoor kitchen in our back yard with no phone or TV. The fridge is packed with wine and beer. Three grills so no waiting for food. Hot and cold running water and a pool 50' away. There are cupboards for all the things we need and an 8' bar that is on wheels so it can be moved up next to the counters if needing more space for food prep. We have a large fire pit and many comfortable chairs and lounges. Because of this, who needs to go camping!
