"DIY" - a Story

"Dr. Jimbo"??
I think that will work!!
You've got - "Dr. Phil", "Dr. Oz", Dr. Laura", "Dr. Seuss", "Dr. Who" ...
Why not "Dr. Jimbo"!!!
Works for me!!!

RF

As your agent - all I'll need is a "modest", 15 % of the "gross" -
A "cut" of any "residuals" - books, TV appearances, (Dr. Jimbo - makeup
in 15 minutes!), etc...
I'll "Fax" the contracts over - Don't worry about the "fine print"!!
(It's just legal, "Mumbo-Jumbo"!)
Except for the part, concerning the matter of my compensation -
"Gold", "Platinum", "Diamonds", "Negotiable Bearer-Bonds" etc... -
(You can keep your "First-Born" child!!)
(I'll have to decide on the color of my "Ferrari"! - an agent's job, is never
easy!!)

It will never get off the ground, too painful and the doctor bills are out of sight, know what I mean?

I am waiting to see how the second story addition turned out Ross.

Oh wait a second, talking about second story additions, reminded me of a second story addition I built years back. The folks had a teenaged boy who was one of the most intelligent people I have ever seen, he just didn't have any common sense,

Well to make a short story longer, after we had finished the job, we got a call back, it seems the boy had stored his 30-06 still loaded it the closet. He reached in to get it and shot a hole through his closet wall, bedroom wall through the floor up into the upstairs bath and out the back wall of the bath. Wasn't to hard to patch most of the holes though. I'm through now.

Well, Dr. Jimbo!

It looks like you don't trust your "Agent"!
Seems like we're in "negotiating" mode.
10 % -
(I still get to pick the color of my "Ferrari", though!)
OK - Maybe, I'll take your "First-Born" child - they don't eat too much, do they?!?
Man, you drive a hard bargain!!!
(Ha, ha, ha! - I'll be driving a Ferrari!!!)

The 2nd. floor addition?
Here's one of the "little", problems that occured.
3 days before we started this addition, we purchased Risk and Liability
Insurance.
Existing roof is off - floor-joists and deck are on for the 2nd. floor.
Covered (Severely with plastic - so we thought!!)
That evening - T-storms, with high winds!
Oh No!
("The rain drops keep falling on my head!" - or was that "Singing in the rain"?)

Back in a few!

"DIY" - a Story

T-storms with high, winds.
About 9:00 pm, my friend calls me and tells me the homeowner has called
him!
Leaks!!
We go out there - we get up on the deck and try to do the best we can.
Limited success.
(The homeowner says that he's got 50 to 55 gal. garbage cans, filling
up in about 20 minutes through the light-fixtures!)
We do the best that we can - we slow the leaks down.
Eventually, it all works out fine!
(Surprisingly, very little damage to the first floor!)
Were still friends with that homeowner!
We still do work for him!
Another, happy ending!!

Next - maybe, "Skyscrapers!!!

Happy Holidays!

"DIY" - a Story

Interesting and entertaining story.

So, my question is: Why did you go to college, what did you study, and did you learn anything?!

"DIY" - a Story

Why did I go to college?
Good question!
I think it was what my parents wanted me to do - especially, my mom.
(You don't disagree with "Mom"! )
Studied?? - You're supposed to "study" in college??!!
When did that happen!!??

Majors in Philosophy and Art - minors in "psyche", English, History.
Can you say - "What were you going to do with that"!!??
Exactly!!!
(I also, studied, members of the opposite sex - big surprise!)
I "muddled", through the best I could!
Ended up becoming a "Carpenter".
(Although, people ask me what I do - I tell them - "I'm a "Remodeler" -
"Cat-Skinner" - there's more than one way to "skin a cat".)
By the way - before "PITA" steps in - I love cats/animals!
It's just a "saying"!

Did I learn anything?
Probably. (I hope!)
I can build houses - from the ground up - all of it!
(I know- I know! - "Jack-of-All": "Master-of-None"!)
Whatever!!!!
There's people, who are my collegues, they think I'm an "Expert" -
in some areas.
Who knows what they know?!?
(Fooled them again - Ha, ha, ha!)

Hope that answers your inquiries!
(Any further information, will require "consultation fees"! - He, he, he!)

Happy Holidays!

Ahhh! - a "critic"!
An expert, "hack" (such as myself) loves it when the "critics", become
aware of one's "humble", endeavors!
Thanks for your thoughtful, cogent response!!

Merry X-mas and a Happy New Year to you!

rossfingal

(I've won awards for my "hack", jobs)

Peace!!

"DIY" - a Story

Enjoyed the story, Rossfingal.........I did NOT like the part about the uncooperative neighbor and his precious vacant lot. I'm a painter and I began an interior job in a neighboring county.......unfamiliar territory. All the parking spots were taken up by the other trades so I park across the street in a grassy "vacant" area. Twenty minutes later the landowner comes to the house I'm working on WITH A SHOTGUN and threatens to shoot whoever parked on his lot. I apologize and move my truck. Long story short, two weeks later the man's wife rushes into the home saying her husband was having a heart attack (I wasn't there at the time).......not one person bothered to help because he had threatened to kill them all at one point or another. I figured after that, Karma is real.

"Gymschu"
I've had guns pulled on me, a few times -
Not the "high-points" of my life!!
Luckily, not on a job-site!
Yeah, that "Karma" stuff is really something!
"What goes around - comes around"!
(Glad you liked the story!)

Happy Holidays!
