DIY fail - photo of towing error

It's hard to see but this genius, heading westbound on the bay bridge is holding his hitch on the ball with a piece of 12g romex and some pipe clamps.

maybe that is why his bumper is bent up. It came off and ran into him and this is his attempt to get somewhere

Scuba_Dave 07-01-2010 09:53 PM

Geez what an idiot
Everyone knows romex isn't rated for use outdoors

At least he's using 12ga. 14 would never hold up to that much abuse.

I hope law enforcement was informed. On the bay bridge no less:eek:

"Tongue weight", it all depends on tongue weight!
then again, maybe he's hauling his Mother-in-law in the trailer  David

I love the comments, you guys are funny!

Big Bob 07-02-2010 04:15 PM

whoa! they better double up the romex ... the ball looks upside down...:(

Stuff like this is why I hate driving behind someone pulling a trailer, boat, load of logs, etc. You're assuming the guy (or gal) knew what he was doing when he hooked it up.

Same with a pickup truck bed stacked up with someone's furniture. One minute your vision is fine and the next minute the wind has their mattress pinned to your windshield.

That should probably be in a conduit.

Did this make it ...or did the headlines in the paper have more to the story?

We passed it by - and as far as I know still on the road....
