Thanks Ross. And creeper, I hope you and your family had a great Canada Day.

Michigan legalized the more-dangerous fireworks this year, so some of the neighbors are setting off a lot of them right now. I better go out to watch. Too bad I can't have a beer or two to enjoy the show.

HAPPY 4th OF JULY EVERYONE!!!

Barb

I would reply that it should be the OP.... Mr. Rossi.

But then this would be the 1,000th post, which would make that impossible.

Unless, of course, Rossi makes post #1,001 and we ask one of our dear friendly moderators, Mike or DM to delete this post. Then Rossi's post would move up to become #1,000.

I sure do miss everyone on this thread. I hope we make it to #2,000.

Kind of hot here--over 100 for several days---How is the weather for everyone?

We had a storm push through a few days back that flattened thousands of trees----power is still off in a few areas---

We broke a record yesterday. 36.1 C . Just under 100 F but throw in the humidex and it "feels" like 40 something.

Its gone now, thuderstorm is currently rolling through, not at all violent, tons of rain and the air is much much cooler.

True to my word, I have enjoyed every sweltering moment of this heat wave. I haven't even taken the cover off the air conditioner. The furnace fan has been running for weeks and it really works amazingly well.

We are heading to London Ontario soon. Anybody got any interesting plans for the summer?

Good gravy Mike, I don't see how you stand that kind of heat with your AC on the blink. That same storm came through here and knocked out our power for 24 hours and with the temps over 100 it got hot. We had planned to sleep in the car with the air running when they showed up and got the power on.

I got the roof back on our camper but the inside isn't fixed yet. I sure wish it had been, we would have taken off to the camp grounds where we could have had electricity. I hope y'all are staying cool.

We missed out on a storm the other night that hit a county north-east of us and took out their power for 2 days.

It's been in the upper 90's here, flirting with 100 a few times.

Have a fun, safe trip Jan!

I'm heading out to Montana and Wyoming next Saturday, the 14th. Hoping to leave here around 4 am to avoid some of the (scary to me) Chicago traffic by driving through early in the morning.

A website I checked yesterday showed that there is a forest fire where the Beartooth Highway is (212), which is one area I'm 'planning' on going to. I guess I'll have to consult with mother nature and adjust my plans accordingly. Oddly enough, that highway is about the only thing I do have planned. The rest of the trip is going to be on-the-fly.

If I can't start out in Montana, I might start out in Colorado and try to make the drive on the Beartooth highway before coming home.

Mike and Ross, are either of you familiar with the town of Galena, Illinois? My brother said I should go through there on the way because it's a nice town. Is it worth driving off the beaten path a little bit to see it?
