I doubt the US can claim the moral high ground. We are all genetically the same within a few percent, since Eve (who lived 500k years ago).
It's an arms race, based on fear.
I hate being sick, so I hope the first thing they throw our way hits me right on the head.
You should read some of the Hiroshima/Nagasaki stuff. One guy was directly under the air burst they used, and his shadow or lack of shadow was/is imprinted into the concrete of the bridge he was on (from the image it seems that he was running at the time). All of us live about 100 milliseconds in the past. He never felt a thing.
Yeah, Adolf definitely had some "issues". . .

If we didn't have the moral high ground than how come every time a dictator starts knocking off their own national (Like Bosnia and a bunch of African nations) the international community demands that WE intervene.
We do persecuted global minorities run to America?
Brother WE ARE THE MORAL HIGH GROUND! because we care.
When was the last time France put their ass on the line for anybody?

John Stewart pointed out that one thing we don't have in this country are death squads (but we do seem to disappear people).
He had little icons in his book, Democracy InAction, representing a country that has fun (little barrels of monkeys) and the downside of countries that have fun (little death squad icons).
This country could do so much better. . .

Knowledge is strength and power, and with power come great responsibility.
For all it takes for evil to triumph is for the good to do nothing.
We have the intel, we have the muscle and WE have the responsibility.
Who else is gonna clean up these tyrants, Continental Europe?

Maybe so, but can you name a country that does as well as us?
Are you implying the government is responsible for the disappearance of people?
Increased knowledge = increased sorrow? ignorance is bliss? What you don't know can't hurt you? Sorry, don't agree with any of them.

Genetically the same, not morally.
Of course it is based on fear, it has worked pretty well until our recent attacks. The only way to protect yourself from someone hell bent on destroying you is to make sure you have more fire power than them. During the "cold war" our enemies did not want to be destroyed any more than we did.
My father in law was on the Baton Death March; spent three and a half years as a "guest" of the emperor. He was 6'2" and weighed 95 pounds when he was finally liberated.
Yes, it is unfortunate that civilians die in war.
Adolf had some "issues"? Is that what you call it?

Do/did we have tyrants in this country? Should we clean them up first? If we had tyrants, were they prosecuted? If not, why not?
It's "Bataan". I missed it, and Korea, and instead of Vietnam I was at Kelly AFB. "Victory at Sea" talked about Bataan. Some of it is on YouTube.
Issues are issues. "Issues" is sarcasm. I'll have to be more literal.
As to us doing well, we're 5% of the world's population and we spend half as much as the whole world on defense. We also consume 25% of the world's resources. Is there any thing wrong with this picture?
More knowledge is better. Nobody promised us a rose garden.

The Cliff's Note's version of this poem is "No mortal can stand the truth."
